Mark J. Rubin, Esq.
Chief Financial Officer of New Vernon Capital
Mark Rubin is the Chief Financial Officer of New Vernon Capital. Prior to joining New Vernon Capital, Mr. Rubin co-managed an investment partnership and served as CFO for Aerotec, LLC (a private-equity funded engineering services company). Prior to joining Aerotec, Mr. Rubin was a Vice President at Ascent Financial, LLC, a Chicago-based private equity firm, where he was responsible for sourcing and evaluating investment opportunities as well as managing several of the funds portfolio companies. Mr. Rubin, an attorney and a CPA, practiced law for three years with Chicago-based Altheimer & Gray focusing on securities and corporate law matters and prior to that, worked as a CPA with Arthur Andersen & Co. Mr. Rubin received his JD, Magna Cum Laude, from the University Of Illinois College Of Law and his BS in Accounting from Indiana University.
John Phinney
Chief Operating Officer of Apollo Capital Markets
Mr. Phinney became the Chief Operating Officer of Apollo Capital Markets in March 2008. John brings to Apollo 27 years of professional experience developing and managing the finance, tax, operations, technology, risk and treasury operations at some of today’s leading financial companies. Prior to joining the firm, he was a Partner at The Rohatyn Group, an alternative asset manager specializing in the Emerging Markets, and was its Chief Financial and Operating Officer and prior to joining Rohatyn, he served in similar capacities at JPMorgan and Fidelity Investments. John graduated Cum Laude from Suffolk University with a BS in Accounting and graduated The United States Marine Corp Officer Candidate program in 1980. he is a member of the Chewonki Foundation Advisory Board, a member of both the Wilton Riding Club and Cape Neddick Country Club. John resides in Wilton, CT, with his wife and 3 children.
Steven Swain
Chief Operating Officer and General Council of Lyster Watson
Prior to joining Lyster Watson, Mr. Swain was a Senior Vice President at Lazard Asset Management.
He was responsible for global business development and product management of Lazard's alternative
investment platform. Prior to joining Lazard, Mr. Swain was an attorney with the Washington, D.C.
law firm of Routier, Mackey and Johnson where he specialized in representing investment companies
on securities and corporate law matters. He is a member of the Pennsylvania, New Jersey and
Washington, D.C. Bars. Mr. Swain earned a Bachelor of Arts from Clark University. He also earned
a Juris Doctor from Villanova University and a Master of Business Administration in Finance and
Investments from The George Washington University. Mr. Swain also serves on the Advisory Board
of the Clark University Graduate School of Business.
Glen C. Dailey
Managing Director and Head of Prime Brokerage of Jefferies & Company
Glen C. Dailey joined Jefferies & Company in March, 2006 as Managing Director and
Head of Prime Brokerage. He previously founded Banc of America Prime Brokerage in 1995
and led the business for eleven years. Prior to Banc of America Securities LLC, he was
a Managing Director and Head of Prime Brokerage for twelve years at Furman Selz LLC.
Glen attended Bernard Baruch College in New York and currently resides in Manhattan with
his wife and two children.
Akiva Elias
Chief Operating Officer of Avendus Capital PvT. Ltd.
Akiva Elias serves as Chief Operating Officer at Avendus Capital PvT. Ltd, a Mumbai-based investment bank.
Prior to joining Avendus, he was Executive Director at Morgan Stanley, where he spent fourteen years in
their Information Technology division. Akiva spent ten years in New York in a variety of software
development, technology architecture, project management and leadership roles. He moved to Mumbai
for four years to lead the IT offshore development organization, and then returned to New York to
develop the technology division’s global offshoring and outsourcing strategy and plan. Akiva has a BS
in Electrical Engineering from University of Rochester, an MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering
from Carnegie Mellon University, and an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennslyvania.
